What does a bookkeeper do?
In business there are two truths, you earn money and you spend money. Bookkeepers keep track of those transactions, by placing them in appropriate accounts, documenting the daily financial transactions and preparing financial statements.
Why should I hire a bookkeeper?
Time is money, and your time is extremely valuable. Your primary focus should be on the growth of your business, and hiring a bookkeeper allows your focus to stay that way. At ePro Books & Taxes, our professional bookkeeping services ensure that your finances will be organized correctly, giving you the peace of mind you need to focus your time and energy on your company. Additionally, we have the expertise to do your books correctly, avoiding costly mistakes and ensuring an accurate depiction of your business's financial state.
What kind of software do you use?
Most bookkeeping softwares are very similar to each other. Our bookkeeping company has worked Peachtree, QuickBooks, Quicken, and other specialty software that's industry specific.
Do I need to clean up my books before handing them off?
No. At ePro Books & Taxes, we will review your books and discuss with you what is going on prior to starting our bookkeeping work. We like open communication at all times with our clients, so there aren't any surprises.
When is the work performed? On a schedule?
Generally, bookkeeping work is done once a month but varies on the type of business that you operate and what your needs are. At ePro Books & Taxes, we customize our services to your bookkeeping needs. If it's weekly payroll, we make it happen. If it's reconciling your bank statements, we do that too.
What type of businesses does ePro Books & Taxes serve?
Our bookkeeping services are suitable for business of all kinds. Our office has worked law offices, realtors, medical spas, property managers, manufactures and service companies. We primary focus on the micro companies to medium sized companies.
How much will bookkeeping cost my company?
The bookkeeping for a small business usually takes 1 to 2 hours a month. We are professionals and have been doing bookkeeping for over 20 years, which makes us efficient at what we do. Our rates start at $40 an hour and go up to $55 an hour depending on the location the bookkeeping is done at.
When will I need to start looking for a bookkeeper?
You should begin looking for bookkeeping services when:
- When you feel overwhelmed and don't understand how to do bookkeeping.
- When you are spending more than 2 hours a week. We can cut that down to possibly 2-4 hours a month, depending on what you need.
- When your Profit & Loss statement doesn't make sense or doesn't look right. We find that we are spending a lot of time cleaning up the bookkeeping because it wasn't entered in correctly.
- When you business is growing quickly and you can't get to the bookkeeping at all.
Do you work with a CPA?
We currently do not have a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) on staff but we do work with many CPAs in the Valley and Mesa, AZ area to help our clients, especially when it comes to doing their taxes. We make sure that books are completed in a timely fashion and done to help make the CPAs job easier.
Why should I have both a bookkeeper and CPA?
Checks and balances; we check each others work and find errors - if there are any. A bookkeeper does the detailed and majority of the work, a CPA checks the work and recommends formatting changes if needed. Also a bookkeeper is usually a 1/3 of the cost of a good CPA so you can save money by having the majority done at a lesser hourly rate.
