Hi, I'm Monica Olivares - I'm a bilingual go getter with over 10 years knowledge in Tax Preparation, Bookkeeping, and Notary Public services.
I like helping people by finding solutions to their financial problems and relieving some of their life stressors.
If I can help in any way, I will. I believe in always helping because you never know who might need that extra 5 minutes of communication and attention to make their life or day brighter.
I was born in Ukraine. When I was 10 years old, my parents immigrated to the United States and settled in Maine where we lived for the next 10 years. After I graduated high school in 2000, I decide to move to South Carolina and I’ve been living here ever since. I started my college career in South Carolina by first attending a local Technical College and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree. Then I transferred to University of South Carolina in the Upstate and completed my Bachelors in Business.
While I was doing my college studies, in 2003 I was also helping my mother purchase an alteration business in Spartanburg and proceed to help her run all the business side of it while she did the sewing. At first, the business was very small and it took us a lot of word of mouth advertising to build up our clientele. When we started the business, we had a total of 3 employees, and now fast-forward over 15 years later, the business grew in clientele and employees to over 5 times what it was.
Having my business degree helps to be able to run the operation but it’s the hands on experience that got me from knowing almost nothing about bookkeeping, accounting and business to now knowing almost everything about the Quickbooks program. I definitely have a lot more to learn, because I always strive to learn more and more about the work that I do to get better.
In my personal life, I am happily married to a wonderful man for over 15 years with 2 amazing and smart kids, a boy and a girl. My husband has his own business working from home where he does online sales and I do his bookkeeping and taxes. My kids go to a Charter School and are very active in school activities and after school sports. I try to be very involved in their school by being involved in PTO and other volunteer programs in the community. In my spare time, I love to do gardening, reading, listening to music, riding my bike, and cooking! I am very involved in my local church and help out in different ways when asked. We have 1 dog, 2 cats and 3 kittens.
